Shakespeare Double Bill: AS YOU LIKE IT / MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING

Venue: Theatre 303, The University of Hong Kong 香港大學303劇院

Date: April 20 & 21 2013

Special Note: This production was later performed at the HKU Blackbox at the invitation by The School of English, The University of Hong Kong, in celebration of the HKU Centennial Campus.

With both comedies set in a modern time frame, audience are treated to two hours of slapstick humour, music and wit. The night opens with Much Ado About Nothing, a play about the battle of wits between headstrong Beatrice and misogynist Benedick. Meanwhile, the jealous brother of Duke Senior tricks Claudio into believing fiancee Hero to be unfaithful. How will everything unfold amidst misunderstandings and stubbornness?

After Much Ado came As you Like It. As You Like It, the play first staged by HKSTG in 2010, returns with a full cast and retold the story of cross-dressing Rosalind and her beloved Orlando, aided by other comic characters like Phoebe, Silvius and Jacques.
